Are HSV-2 (genital herpes) blood test accurate?
i might need to go find one are they accurate here is my story
i got head from a girl that 3 weeks next i got blister on scrotum and like a few on my penis cranium. now the day back i got the blisters i masturbated with shampoo and never took a shower after. that i woke up to some blisters. i thought it might be a recoil to the shampoo or herpes. now i put some shampoo on my scrotum and penis head to see if i would bring back blisters and i got some on my penis head and my scrotum get really irritated and started getting dry and peeled. when i first got the blisters it feel the same way to when i put the shampoo on to see what it be. what do u think it was a hypersensitivity to the shampoo or herpes? plz be honest
oh yea the blisters lasted about 4 - 5 days and that go away the ones on my scrotum peeled away but the ones on my penis just type of shrank and went away
: No test is surefire. It's always possible for a test to impart inaccurate results, and the accuracy of a herpes blood oral exam depends on which specific test was used. The sensitivity/specificity of two different relatively standard Herpes blood test are as follows:
ELISA:
~91% sensitivity and 92% specificity for HSV-1
~96% sensitivity and 97% specificity for HSV-2
Immunoblot:
~99% sensitivity and 95% specificity for HSV-1
~97% sensitivity and 98% specificity for HSV-2
If you make the reasonable assumption that around 50% of the population are infected next to HSV1, the virus primarily associated with oral herpes and cold sores, and 25% are infected with HSV2, the virus primarily associated near genital herpes, then the positive predictive value and cynical predictive value are as follows:
ELISA:
HSV-1: Approximately 92% of positive tests afford the correct result.
HSV-2: Approximately 92% of positive tests are correct, and 98% of negative test are correct.
Immunoblot:
HSV1: Approximately 95% of positive and 99% of negative tests are correct.
Get tested, don't do experiments near shampoo.
